Using group work to improve speaking skills of the 10th grade students at Yen Phong 2 high school in Bac Ninh province

The study was conducted to explore how group work makes a contribution towards improving speaking skills of the 10th grade students at Yen Phong 2 High School in the second semester of school year 2019- 2020. The respondents of this study were 42 students in class 10A1 at Yen Phong 2 High School. The action research was employed in this study. The questionnaire, observation, pretest and posttest were used as the main instruments in gathering the needed data. The frequency, percentage, average and T-test were used to describe the attitudes, perceptions and results of the respondents. The hypotheses were tested at 0 .05 level of significance. The study also introduces some group work activities that can be applied in teaching speaking skills. The ultimate goal of this study was to help students feel confident in communicating in English and got higher scores. Based on these findings, some implications for improving and developing English reading skill of students were suggested and recommendations were made for further research.
