Role-play as a speaking activiy in EFL classroom

Orally communicating in the target language is probably the ultimate goal of many English language learners. It is the ability to convey the ideas and thoughts into words in real-life situations and to function properly and effectively in everyday conversation in English. Teachers, as a result, need to create an environment or activities in which students can immerse themselves in the colloquial language so that they can foster their speaking skills. For those reasons, this research puts emphasis on a speaking activity that can be used in EFL classroom, role-play. The main focuses of the study are on 3 parts: (1) teaching speaking skills, (2) role-play technique including its types and benefits, (3) suggestions when applying role-play in the classroom. The research’s finding might be of great benefit to many teachers and educators who wants to boost the student’s speaking ability.
