Integrating the global citizen education inter the new general education program in Vietnam: opportunities and challenges (case study: the junior high school in Hanoi)

Global citizenship education is a new and increasingly popular educational trend in order to meet the need of the globalization and the industrial revolution 4.0, as well as the requirement of solving global problems. UNESCO and many international educational organizations, many countries have research and made efforts to implement many activities and programs on global citizenship education. In Vietnam, the Ministry of Education and Training has just issued a new general education program. This program has domains that are similar with the world’s global citizenship education being implementing. This paper will investigate the opportunities and challenges of integrating global citizenship education into the new education program based on the results of the survey conducted in Hanoi’s secondary schools, and finally give some suggestions on how to implement global citizenship education in the direction of integrating with the new general education program
