ENHANCING LEARNERS’ MOTIVATION THROUGH THE APPLICATION OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

Abstract

 In today’s rapidly evolving digital landscape, enhancing student motivation is a central concern for educators and policymakers. This paper explores the role of information technology (IT) in promoting active learning and stimulating learners’ motivation in higher education. Drawing upon contemporary educational theories and evidence-based practices, the study highlights how IT tools such as multimedia resources, learning management systems, and interactive platforms can foster intrinsic motivation, autonomy, and cognitive engagement. The paper also identifies key competencies that students need to develop for self-directed learning, including scientific thinking, systematization of concepts, and the ability to initiate and manage exploratory learning activities. It further emphasizes the importance of aligning pedagogical design with digital tools to create inclusive, student-centered learning environments. The findings suggest that when thoughtfully integrated, IT not only enhances the effectiveness of teaching but also empowers learners to take ownership of their educational journey.
